What is it?
The National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) is a program run by the Administration on Aging to provide vital services to caregivers to help them cope with their responsibilities and ease the burden of care. What do you get? Services offered include individual counseling, support groups and training related to providing in-home care, as well as respite care and assistance with home modifications, transportation, and supplies. Respite care may include a Caregiver coming to your home on scheduled days, or during an emergency, to allow you to run errands or have some time to yourself. It may also mean dropping your relative off at an adult day care center some days, or bringing your grandchild to camp in the summer. How long do you get it? You can get support as long as you continue to provide in-home care. |
