What is it? Family Health Plus is a free New York State health insurance program for single adults, childless couples, and parents with limited income. If you do not qualify for Medicaid, you may qualify for Family Health Plus. What do you get? Family Health Plus covers doctor’s services, hospital care, prescription drugs, lab tests, dental and vision care, and other medical services. Health care services are provided through managed care plans. A managed care plan is a health plan provided by a private Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). You select a managed care plan when you apply for Family Health Plus. How long do you get it? To keep your Family Health Plus insurance coverage, you will need to renew it once every 12 months. You will receive a notice in the mail reminding you to renew your coverage. |
