Do I qualify for Medicaid?

You qualify for Medicaid if you:
  • Are a U.S. Citizen or a qualifying alien (pregnant women and people with an emergency medical condition do not have to prove immigration status)
  • Are a resident of the five boroughs of New York City
  • Have a qualifying income and resource level (see the table below)

NOTE: Effective January 1, 2010, the resource test is eliminated for Medicaid applicants and recipients (for those receiving community-based Medicaid) who are not aged, certified blind or certified disabled (SSI-related). Only aged, blind and disabled persons are subject to the resource test.
